Calling all young monster makers in grades K–12! Submit your original creature art and see it framed and on display at the Creature Exhibit station at the Monster Bash on October 31st at the Takoma Park Community Center.

What can I submit?

If you imagined it, it belongs in the exhibit. Draw (pencil/pen/marker/crayon/pastel/charcoal/etc.), paint or digitally design any creature that lives in your imagination. You can submit physical art on paper or canvas NO bigger than 16"x24".

Monsters

Spooky, silly, fuzzy, slimy or somewhere in between.

Creatures

Beasts from the deep sea, outer space or your backyard.

Characters

Heroes, villains and sidekicks with a story to tell.

Imaginative plants, animals & living beings

Toothy flowers, glowing mushrooms, winged fish: invent a new species.

Robots

Bolts, gears, blinking lights: build a robot with a personality.

Alien life

Visitors from other planets, galaxies or dimensions.

How it works

Create

Make your own original creature/monster/character/imaginative being/alien/robot.
On the back of the paper/canvas or in the email, please include: Your Name/Grade/School/Parent/Guardian Email/Art Piece Title. Optional: Tell Us About Your "Creature".

Submit

Submit it in-person at the PBES Main Office, MBHS Art Department, or The Takoma Park Library for pickup OR
Email it to greta.solomon+monsterbash@mcpsmd.net by Friday, October 23rd.

See it on display

Visit the Creature Exhibit station at the Monster Bash on October 31st 1p-4p and find your work hung in the tent near the Takoma Park Community Center (7500 Maple Avenue).

How to submit

Two easy ways to enter. Deadline: Friday, October 23rd.

Option 1

Drop it off

Bring your artwork to the PBES Main Office, MBHS Art Department, or the Takoma Park Library

On the back, write the artist’s first name, grade, school, and parent/guardian email, creature name, and tell us about your creature (optional).

Option 2

Email it

Send a photo or scan of your artwork to greta.solomon+monsterbash@mcpsmd.net.

Include the artist’s first name, grade and school, parent/guardian email, creature name, and tell us about your creature (optional) in the email.

Artwork will be returned to school Main Offices after the event.

Guidelines

Who
Students in grades K–12
Size & materials
Any 2D Art: Drawing (Pencil, Pen, Marker, Crayon, Pastels, etc) or Painting on Paper or Canvas any size 16"x24" or less or a Digital Design (Original Artwork)
Entries
Up to TWO entries per student
Getting your art back
Delivered to school main offices the week of November 2nd or after 4pm at the Monster Bash (10/31)
